Title: Follow The Cipher
The group FORSAKEN released FLAC of 2016’s album Alone by Pretenders. Alone – the first new album in eight years from Chrissie Hynde and Co. Originally intended as s follow-up to Hynde’s 2014 solo album Stockholm, Alone evolved into a bonafide Pretenders album although she is the only original band member to appear on the album. Alone was recorded with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach at his Easy Eye Studio in Nashville. The album features Hynde on vocals and guitar joined by bassist Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Sturgill Simpson), pedal steel guitarist Russ Pahl (Blake Shelton), guitarist Kenny Vaughan (Lana Del Rey), keyboardist Leon Michels, and drummer Richard Swift.
The group FATHEAD released FLAC of 2016’s album 4 Your Eyez Only by J. Cole. 4 Your Eyez Only plunges deep into J. Cole’s soul. You can clearly hear it in his voice—pleading, testifying, on the verge of cracking. At center stage with no featured guests, the North Carolina rapper speaks out on social ills, black lives, and doing the right thing in a world of wrong. The music is settled, filled with jazz touches and strings, allowing the words to become the focus. “Neighbors” and “Change” examine imbalances and tension affecting communities of color. “Foldin Clothes” shows that even benign acts can be a source of joy. The two-part suite “She’s Mine” may be the most important songs he’s written, as Cole finds himself overcome by a strange feeling: hope.

The group FATHEAD released FLAC of 2016’s album Lemonade by Beyoncé. When Beyoncé’s voice cracks with sorrow on “Sandcastles,” it shows that pop’s most celebrated independent woman isn’t immune to pain. Lemonade uses those emotions and an incendiary narrative about infidelity as jumping-off points; “Hold Up,” “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” and “Sorry” are middle-fingered clap-backs to galvanize the BeyHive. But focus solely on Becky and you’ll miss the big picture. With “Freedom” and “Formation,” Beyoncé offers fierce celebrations of blackness. The accompanying film combines words by Somali-British poet Warsan Shire with radical imagery, reaffirming Bey’s stature as one of the most visionary artists and provocateurs of her generation.
The group FATHEAD released FLAC of 2016’s album A Seat at the Table by Solange. A Seat At The Table, is the new album from Solange Knowles.
